Testimonials

"This way of learning a language made complete sense to me. Working with the SpeakEZ German course, I was able to understand more in 2 weeks than in five years of German in school!"
      -- Asbjørn Finsnes

"The way in which this method is presented provided me with language that will suit me in a foreign country instead of a collection of unusable vocabulary words.

Those who have studied languages realize that looking-up individual words cannot convey a language in the correct manner. Becoming fluent means being able to verbalize ideas ; not learning technical rules and identifying the Past Predicate Indicative.

The audio part of this method has been my favorite portion of the learning process. Not only is the pronunciation slow and clear, but it is presented so that I remember the flow of sentences and concepts.

Thank you for the opportunity to work with this amazing program; it has been a blessing for me."

-- Destiny Yarbro, College Student

About Us

Nathalie V. Fairbanks is the author of "The Birkenbihl Approach: Brain-Friendly, Accelerated Language Learning" and the German course "SpeakEZ German I & II" as well as co-author of "SpeakEZ Spanish I."

Nathalie Fairbanks has taught students from all backgrounds and education levels since 1993 in a variety of settings, including Columbia University, Queens College, Montclair University, Manhattan College, NYU School of Continuing and Professional Studies, TU Berlin, Chinatown Manpower, Indochina Sino-American Community Center, Berlitz International and the law firm Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson.

Nathalie Fairbanks is grateful for the breadth of her international education, which includes an M.A. in Foreign Language Teaching from New York University, Dipl.-Kauffrau from TU Berlin, an M.S. in Management from Stevens Institute of Technology for which she was awarded a DAAD scholarship, a B.A. in Recording Engineering from Hochschule der Knste Berlin and a European Baccalaureate (French mother language) from European School Karlsruhe.

Nathalie Fairbanks worked as a Financial Analyst for Hewlett-Packard in Germany and as a Senior Project Manager for Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein on Wall Street for a total of 5 years. This only confirmed her lingering suspicion that she loves working with students while spreadsheets make her cranky.

Nathalie Fairbanks is a Life Member of XL Results Foundation and has been featured on WCBS, CKLW, WLW, WORD-FM, the Chuck Wilder Show, Sean Harriott's Morning Air, WVNJ, KAHI-AM, WBOB AND WRVC.

After spending her entire adult life in two diverse and exciting cities, Berlin and New York City, Nathalie Fairbanks is currently adjusting to life in the desert of Death Valley, CA with her husband Daren, her baby daughter Catherine and Silver the Cat. Her personal interests range from playing chamber music and practicing Iyengar yoga to discovering languages and traveling the world.

Claudette A. Oliveras is a native New York City resident with a passion for world travel.

She received her B.S. in Business Management from C.W. Post Campus, Long Island University (L.I.U.). Upon graduation, she was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship to study abroad at the University of Regensburg in Germany. Her stay in Germany allowed her to travel extensively in Europe.

In 1992, she became an au pair for a host family in Grasse, France where she took care of children who spoke no English. In 1993, she returned to America to get a job and start her graduate studies.

She earned her M.B.A. in International Business through L.I.U. in 1995, studying two semesters at Franklin College in Lugano, Switzerland and a year in New York.

Her career has led her to work for various educational institutes in the U.S. including Sylvan Learning Center, LaGuardia Community College, Forest Hills Community House and Union County College.

Her love for teaching was confirmed when in 1999, she became a Peace Corps volunteer in Slovakia for two years. Representing America in a former East-Block country was an unforgettable experience. Helping people learn English and improve their skills was very rewarding.

In December 2002 she graduated from New York University with an M.A. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.

From 2003-2004 she taught English as a foreign language in Japan with the JET Program. She is now working as an ESL teacher in a NYC public school and sharing her love for teaching with i-to-i trainees on weekends.

We're here to make language learning easy for you. We've learned a total of 11 languages between the two of us, to varying degrees of proficiency. We're still learning, because that's what we love to do. The fact that we continuously strive to improve our own effectiveness in language learning is what differentiates us from most language teachers.

As you can imagine, we have a bulging bag of tricks to share with you!

We've had incredible opportunities to teach languages and have enjoyed exploring many different settings: Columbia University, The Peace Corps, Queens College, Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program, Chinatown Manpower, NYU School of Continuing and Professional Studies, LaGuardia Community College etc., and a long list of private students.

We've successfully taught business executives, college students, new immigrants - in short, students from all walks of life and anyone who truly wanted to learn.

We both grew up in multicultural environments, we both have a German father and we've visited a total of 37 countries on all continents but one (we're missing Australia). We learned early on how valuable it is to be fluent in more than one language and we know that it's not that hard IF you know how to do it!

We are committed to giving back 10% of our profits to support projects that are dear to our hearts.  Claudette is the U.S. officer of IDAAS, a non profit organization based in Cameroon that provides training on sustainable and self reliant organic farming practices.  Click here to learn more.  We've also posted pictures on our Blog.
